Taiwan trip-Day 3

On our third day Taiwan trip, we headed up the mountains to Alishan National Scenic Area (阿里山國家風景區). The park is actually a mountain resort located in the mountains of Chiayi County in Taiwan.

It is known to be one of the "eight wonders of Taiwan" and we’ve heard that the beauty of Alishan girls are exotic coming from the “Alishan de guniang” or "The Girls of Alisan" was a popular song back then. Ironically, we found out that this song is only applicable a decade back as the “The Girls of Alishan” were now “The Women of Alishan” olz Nevertheless, the area is still famous for its natural beauty namely the cypress trees, sakura & mountain.

Our nice and comfortable "min su" with excellent service ∩__∩y

As it was spring, the weather was pretty cooling, at about 19 degrees Celsius. As night, it can drop till 16 degrees Celsius. If you are visiting in the winter, it will be even colder!

We had steamboat (perfect in the cold weather) before we begin our journey!~

Apparently in the mountains, it is tend to get foggy or raining *brrrrrrr*

Look at the magnificence of these tall straight cypress trees!

There were a lot of huge sakura trees but there was only a small number of pink blossoms. Our hostel owner told us that during sakura season the place is full of cherry blossoms and gets very crowded~

Couple shot with the lovely flowers  (^_^)

Ahhh flowers again

The Sisters Ponds are actually two high mountains ponds side by side above 2,100 meters sea level. The Elder Sister Pond is approximately 530 square meters while the Younger Sister Pond is approximately 66 square meters in terms of surface area. A gazebo made of cypress is built on the Elder Sister Pond.

A very relaxing and peaceful place .....

At the end of the Sisters Ponds trail, there is a flight of stairs down, with tall cypress planted on both sides. Very pretty and mysterious~

Alien-looking tree *spookyyyy*
